On February 29, 2024, the Agency for Prevention of Corruption took part in the discussion table organized by the Riinvest Institute as part of The Integrity of the Private Sector Project; supply-side corruption which is supported by the USAID Activity for the Integrity of Kosovo Municipalities (USAID KMI). The report “Research on the dynamics of corruption from the supply side in Kosovo” was also presented in this event.

The organizers emphasized that the purpose of this study is to increase the awareness of the main actors in the business community in Kosovo on the importance of respecting ethical principles in doing business, in order to reduce corruption and bribery on the part of businesses. While the results of the presented report were said to show that businesses are aware of the high level of corruption, and that they are also willing to participate in the implementation of an ethical code of good practices to minimize corruption with the aim of improving business environment and make competition equal. The Riinvest-KMI project also foresees the adoption of an anti-corruption code together jointly with business associations in order to increase integrity in the private sector.

The director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption in Kosovo, Yll Buleshkaj, emphasized that: “This research gives a special contribution to anti-corruption assessments, but unfortunately proves an undesirable fact, that corruption is present on the supply side (businesses) as well and not only from the demand side (public officials), and that this makes of paramount importance strengthening the mechanization of whistleblowing, internal and external, in the private sector.”
